Highscore Field - The Machine

Two alliances of two robots each compete to outscore their opponent in a game called Highscore. Highscore is played on an 8 foot by 12 foot field known as the machine. Robots try to score foam golf balls in the goals along the side of the field to get as many points as possible, and can place balls in the center tower to multiply their points. Robots begin in their designated starting positions on opposite sides of the field.

The match starts with a 15 second autonomous period in which robots drive themselves using only pre-programmed instructions. Robots get bonus points for their team if they can successfully navigate to the goal and score during the autonomous period. Following this autonomous period, the teleoperated period begins and student drivers step forward and drive their robots remotely. During this main portion of the match each alliance tries to gather and score as many golf balls as possible to out-score their opponents. Human players use the plunger to shoot balls back onto the field or to their robot. Towards the end of the match, teams can earn bonus points if they successfully elevate their robot off the floor. They can do this by by hanging off the tower located in the center of the field or by pushing themselves off the floor. The alliance with the most points at the end of the match wins!
